Only in Japan, only on St. Valentine's Day

If the mere thought of pink, fluffy hearts was already enough to make you gag this Valentine's - spare a thought for the poor women of Japan.
Somebody's told their menfolk that what women want on February 14th is the scrapings from inside of their boyfriend's mouth. Who needs chocolates and champagne when you can have a slice of mucous membrane containing your beloved's DNA.
If a Japanese firm gets its way, that's exactly what millions of women will be getting in the post on Wednesday morning.
The scrapings are placed in a centrifuge to extract the DNA which is then treated with salt and alcohol before being placed in a heart-shaped pendant. So far this year the company claims to have sold more than 200 of the novelty items at $43 (£27). The company is hoping it will catch on. Here's hoping it's not contagious.
