Police in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, yesterday arrested seven people, including four Christian ministers, for beating to death the wife of one of the ministers and keeping her corpse in a church for 80 days while praying for her "resurrection."

Police said the 36-year-old victim, identified by her last name Park, was the spouse of one of the four ministers involved in the murder case.

The ministers set up a church in 1999, which they turned into a religious community where they lived together.

Park allegedly used some of the church money without consulting the others, police officials said.

The suspects, including Park's husband, killed Park on May 9, and kept the corpse in the church for about 80 days, with the belief that they could revive her through prayer, they said.

Police confiscated seven personal journals containing daily entries of the suspects' thoughts about the killing, as well as their intention to resurrect Park after death.

The crime was discovered after Park's family reported her disappearance to the police. [and odor???]
